100% CO2 will provide more penetration than with mixed gases. With flux core wire, torch angle is very important as well as staying ahead of the puddle. Often times welders will increase the voltage to get a “hotter” arc which makes things worse, a higher wire feed speed will drive up amperage and provide more penetration.
