No, using a 3" purge dam on 3.5" thin-wall stainless is not recommended as the pipe's inside diameter exceeds the dam's maximum expansion limit. Overinflating the 3" bladder to reach the larger pipe walls will likely cause the latex to burst or fail to maintain a proper airtight seal.
