Soudotec TBW Zinal 4 - Flux Core Brazing Rod
For low temperature soldering / Brazing of aluminum and its various alloys, aluminum to copper and aluminum to steel.
Zinc-aluminum extruded tubular flux-cored rod containing a non corrosive flux for low temperature soldering / brazing.
- No other flux required
- Low bonding temperature
- Easy and quick application
- Less risk of deforming the base metal
- No post-braze cleaning required
- High fluidity and good wettability
- Bonding temperature: 440 - 460ºC (824 - 860ºF)
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Dissimilar assemblies including brazing aluminum to steel. Heat exchangers, refrigeration and brazing of air-conditioning systems, aluminum condensers, radiators, aluminum pipe fittings, etc. Not made for aluminum-magnesium alloy.
Procedure
- Degrease & Clean the aluminum joint surface with stainless brush
- Mechanically remove scale & rust & Degrease the steel joint surface
- Using an open flame torch. Preheat the joint area to around 800 F focusing the heat on the thicker member
- Test the soldering temperature by introducing the rod in the joint surface area. When rod melts and flows into the joint, then soldering temperature range has been reached
- Start soldering by adding more filler material as it melts into the joint. Be careful not to overheat the area by moving the flame point away & into the joint area intermittently
- Cool slowly
- Clean flux residue with warm water & brush
