Western Instruments W-FI Indicators (Magnetometers)

Western Instruments’ W-FI Field Indicators (or Magnetometers) are designed to measure the relative intensity of a magnetic field before or after Magnetic Particle Inspection.

W-FI Field Indicators by Western Instruments are disposable magnetic field indicators for use before or after Magnetic Particle Inspection. When shipped, they are confirmed to be within +/- 5% of the scale value on the dial. When Quality Procedures require recalibration, the W-FI can be replaced with comparable or better economy than calibratible field indicators.

Verification Fixtures are available for each model to confirm the accuracy of the readings. Each Verification Fixture has a certification decal indicating the date of Field Confirmation.

Available Options and Part Numbers

  • W-FI-10: Intended to be used for demagnetization and are calibrated during manufacturing in a homogeneous field (Helmholtz Coil +/- 10 Gauss).
  • W-FI-20: Intended to check residual fields and are calibrated during manufacturing for a homogeneous field ( Helmholtz Coil +/- 20 Gauss).
  • W-FI-50: Intended to check strong residual fields and are calibrated during manufacturing for a homogeneous field ( Helmholtz Coil +/- 50 Gauss)
