Brass Jaw Set for FEIN Versamag

A set of "soft" jaws for the FEIN Versamag. Machined in Toronto, Canada from 360 brass, these jaws replicate the standard steel jaws included with the Versamag.

Brass vice jaws are a better solution than steel jaws when holding delicate, soft, or finished materials is the primary concern. They function as "soft jaws," which protect the workpiece from damage that hard, aggressive steel jaws would typically inflict.

  • Machined in Toronto by Rocket Surgery Solutions
  • Material is 360 Brass
  • Matches geometry of original FEIN steel jaws
  • M6 Threaded holes, for easy swapping
  • One jaw includes threaded M6 holes for mounting accessories or ground cable
  • Note: This product is not manufactured by FEIN

Key Advantages of Brass Jaws over Steel

The main reason to choose brass over steel is due to its relative softness and other protective material properties.

  • Prevents Marring and Scratching: Brass is significantly softer than hardened steel. When clamping, the brass jaws will deform slightly or wear before the workpiece does, ensuring that the finished surface, plating, or paint on materials like aluminum, copper, wood, or delicate machined parts is not scratched or dented by the vise.
  • Reduced Contamination: Using brass jaws helps prevent cross-contamination that can occur when hard steel jaws, especially those with aggressive serrations, are used on softer, non-ferrous metals like aluminum or stainless steel. Steel can leave microscopic particles embedded in the workpiece.
